Should Havdalah be recited while sitting or standing?

Synopsis

The Mechaber rules Havdalah should be said while sitting. The Rema records the Ashkenazi custom to say it while standing. The Taz explains the Mechaber's rationale that sitting creates kevi'ut (a fixed group) needed for one person to fulfill the obligation for others.
