R' Yosef ben Meir Teomim (Pri Megadim)
Rabbi David ben Shmuel HaLevi (c. 1586-1667), known as the Taz (Turei Zahav) and author of Pri Megadim, was a leading Ashkenazi halakhic authority of the early Acharonic period. He served as rabbi in Lvov and other Eastern European communities, and his commentaries on the Shulchan Aruch became foundational texts in Ashkenazi Jewish law. His works, particularly the Taz and Pri Megadim, are distinguished by their acute legal reasoning and systematic analysis of halakhic sources.
