Synopsis

Sleeping — even a brief nap — is prohibited in a synagogue. In a study hall it is permitted. The Aruch HaShulchan adds that in a study hall, the permission is limited to those who learn there; and bringing one's bed is prohibited even when sleeping is allowed.
