Should the arm tefillin be put on sitting or standing, and the head tefillin standing?
Synopsis
There is a Zoharic view that arm tefillin should be put on sitting and head tefillin standing. The Rema records that in Ashkenazi lands the custom is to do both standing. The Magen Avraham proposes a compromise (sitting for the act, standing for the blessing). The Maharshal and Gra reject the Zoharic distinction in practice.
