How many lines must be scored (ruled) when writing tefillin, and may lead be used for scoring?
Synopsis
The Mechaber rules that only the top line need be scored, unless the scribe cannot write straight without scoring all lines. The Rema adds that the custom is to always score the top line, bottom line, and sides. All agree lead scoring is prohibited.
