What prayer do the Kohanim recite after completing Birkat Kohanim, and when do they turn back?
Synopsis
The Mechaber rules that after completing Birkat Kohanim the chazzan begins Sim Shalom, the Kohanim turn to face the ark, and recite 'Master of the Universe, we have done what You decreed upon us; do what You promised us...' The Rema adds that they should extend this prayer until the chazzan concludes Sim Shalom, so the congregation can answer Amen for both simultaneously. If they cannot extend sufficiently, they should say 'Adir Bamarom' (per Siman 130). The Mechaber also rules that Kohanim may not turn, curl their fingers, or leave the platform until the chazzan completes Sim Shalom — and the later opinion is to wait until the congregation finishes the Amen after Sim Shalom, and this is the custom.
