Is eating or drinking for one's own pleasure (without intent for the sake of Heaven) praiseworthy or permissible?

Synopsis

All authorities agree that eating and drinking purely for bodily pleasure, without intent for divine service, is 'not praiseworthy' (eino meshubbach), though technically permitted. The ideal is to eat with explicit intention to maintain health for God's service.
