Can a traveler who intended to establish his Shabbat rest at a specific place, set out on the road, but was turned back before arriving — acquire Shabbat rest at that intended destination?

ShabbatEruv Techumin

Synopsis

When a person resolves to establish his Shabbat rest at a known location and sets out on the road toward it but is turned back before arriving, the question is whether his intention combined with departure constitutes acquisition. The Mechaber rules that such a person acquires Shabbat rest there as if he had stood at the place or placed an eruv there.
