Must one verbally declare 'my Shabbat rest is in such-and-such place' when acquiring Shabbat rest at a distant location by setting out on the road?
Synopsis
The Mechaber (following Rambam) rules that verbal declaration is unnecessary when one has resolved mentally and physically set out. Rashi and Rashba disagree, requiring verbal declaration when not physically present. The Mishnah Berurah records both views.
